Behind a charming smile lies a woman wilh
a will of iron. At 43, Lisa has won everything – well, almost. The marathon
des sables, of course, in 1999, as well as a whole range of unimaginable
races. For example an event in Death Valley in California, where
you have to cover 200 kilometers in one go, through a landscape
which varies in altitude between –100m and +2000m, and
always under a sun which is, according to Lisa « much more
unbearable than in Morocco ». Lisa has won this race three
times over. If you add her10 triathlons to the list, you can
imagine how fit this athlete must be. Her day job is running
a fitness centre in the mountains of Wyoming. But Lisa runs for
charity. She is fundraising for a group of nuns from the Philippines
who run projects for mothers and children worldwide. Setting
up schools in Albania, food distribution in Ethiopia, cooking
lessons etc... Lisa has raised almost 350 000 $ in four years
! A Herculean effort, which she adds to by sending donors mails
and giving news of all the projects financed. Lisa and her husband
Jay have even invited the Ahansal brothers to the States to take
part in the New York marathon. I take my hat off to you!
