Some
technical tips
Isabelle Degrand (92) from the North of France is particularly
at ease running on the flat. But since stage 3 she’s been
learning how to run on the dunes. She shares this exclusive info
with darbaroud.com : « don’t follow the other runners’ footprints
; you have to search out firm sand, run like a duck with your
feet pointed outwards at 11h05. Failing that, there’s another
technique : find a real strong runner and imitate him ».
Brotherly
love
When you ask Lahcen Ahansal if he talks to his younger brother
during the race he smiles and says : «when I ask him
if he’s all right he says I’m taking the mickey. If
I don’t ask him how he is he says I don’t care. There’s
just no solution».
Thought for the day …
from an American runner who says he hates long straight lines even
if they lead to the finish line : « imagine you have
the same finish line in front of you for four hours… and it just
doesn’t seem to move an inch”. Rather depressing.
