In honour of the Reunion Island
These two French runners had the
honour of being first to cross the finish line on the mythic 4th
stage. Admittedly they left
two hours and forty five minutes before the top 50 but that didn’t
make it any less of a pleasure. No sooner had they crossed the
finish line than they got out their cameras to capture the Ahansal
brothers on film as they came in just behind: « it’s
the only opportunity we have to see them come in, you have to
make the most of it ! » says Yannick with a smile. They’re
both regulars on the Grand raid de la Réunion – la
diagonale des fous – and discovered MDS thanks to a headscarf
! « Marie Keyser was wearing a special MDS scarf and I
ask her how I could contact the organisers because I’d
heard about the race. That’s how I came to be here!” explains
Yannick. As for Sebastien he joined his friend on the adventure
but was too taken up with working as an agricultural engineer
to get much training in. That hasn’t stopped him coming
24th in the Grand Raid de la Réunion. Nice blokes and
modest with it…
