Continuing our series on the “marathon’s
united couples » we present Suraya et Ramon from Mexico. They’re
one of the finest examples in the category. They’re married,
work for the same company and are banking on running side by side,
even hand in hand, for the whole 7 days of the marathon des sables.
When one is feeling a bit sluggish, the other slows down. At checkpoints,
they spray each other with water. When asked what will happen if
one of them wants to throw in the towel, they look at each other
and reply: “we haven’t even entertained the idea”.
And quite rightly so – they have the same marathon level: 3h43m
for Ramon and 3h42m for Suraya. A smashing couple!
