Salameh
Al Aqrah (164)
: there’s revenge to be had
35 year old Salameh Al Aqrah (164)
is far from a beginner. A former career-policeman,
he’s run 4 Desert Cups, securing
2nd place in the 2000 edition. He also
won the world military championships
in 2001 and the Dead Sea Ultra-marathon.
In 2002 he came to run MDS but was
forced to throw in the towel after
a disastrous stage where he got lost
for more than 3 hours. That traumatic
day cost him : he dropped from 3rd
to 333rd place but vowed he’d
be back to show what he was really
capable of. When you ask him about
taking revenge he replies humbly : « The
Ahansal brothers are children of the
desert and I’m from the city.
I think they’re unbeatable”.
That said, you can be sure he’ll
do his best to steal their place at
the top. |
