Km 0 :
Start S/SE (compass point 159°), uneven ground with small dunes and calotropis
plants.
Follow the markings carefully to avoid crops in fields.
Km 3,3 :
Cross branch of wadi. Beginning of small dunes.
Km 3,5 :
Fields on your right. Small dunes and packed ground.
Km 4,8 :
Well-shafts on your right. Go S/E (compass bearing 134°) to reach CP1.
Km 7,9 :
Barriers of vegetation on your right. Small track. End of sand, cracked ground.
Km 9 :
Dried-out lake.
Km 10,2 :
Cross large track. Tafraout village on your left.
Km 11 :
CP1 at foot of small hillock, in middle of the lake. Go East (compass point 90°).
Km 12,7:
End of lake, sand. Keep same bearing to go towards jebel Zireg.
Km 16 :
Small mound on your left. Sandy climb.
Km 18 :
End of climb. Sandy descent.
Km 19 :
Go left. Steep, sandy climb. Go along ridge until CP2.
Km 20 :
CP2 on the ridge. Continue in same direction until you begin the climb down.
Km 21 :
End of the descent. Go E/SE (compass bearing 65°) to cross the valley.
Km 22,4 :
First mound. Stony ground.
Km 22,8 :
Second mound on your right, before crossing the track. Becomes less stony.
Km 24,1 :
Cross large track. Slight upwards slope. Sandy.
Km 25 :
Take sandy pass between Mziouda and Ras Khemmouna jebels.
Go north (compass point 2°) to cross sandy valley.
Km 27,2 :
Sandy passage in small jebel.
Km 27,5 :
Very stony valley.
Km 28 :
Highest point of second pass in jebel Ras Khemmouna. Steep and sandy descent.
Follow small river bed.
Km 28,5 :
Cross dried-out lake, N/NE direction (compass point 19°) until CP3.
Km 31,5 :
CP3 before small houses.
Km 31,8 :
House. Beginning of verdant El Maharch gorge.
Km 34 :
End of pass. Go north (compass point 359°). Solar powered pump on your
left.
Km 35,5 :
Rocky peak on your right. Ground becomes less stony.
Km 38 :
Arrive at bivouac N°4. |
