Dutch des Sables 2007 is a Dutch team of four
atheletes: Christine Eenhorst, Phillip de Reuver, Gijs Groeneveld,
Maarten Staarink. Competing in the MDS has every thing Right
to Play stands for. Stamina, respect for nature and other competitors
and working.

| Mercy Ships |

Dr Victor Tregubov (Russian, living/working
in London) is taking part at the 22nd MDS and trying to raise
fund for the International Christian Charity - Mercy Ships
- a fleet of modern ships converted into hospitals that are
visiting the poorest countries around the world (mainly in
Africa) to provide surgery (and some other medical help and
education) free of charge. As an anaesthetist he have been
working with them during last 3 consecutive years (short services
during his annual leaves).

FACING AFRICA

Shaun BACON (AUS - D487) is a Melbourne teacher
who is about to embark on the gruelling Marathon Des Sables
in the Sahara Desert. He's doing it to raise money for the
charity Facing Africa, which is working with children affected
by the disfiguring condition Noma.
Shaun is also a keen wildlife photographer.

Brigid Wefelnberg (D - 461) will be running
- for the second year
the Marathon des Sables. In addition to her normal job, she
is the sports embassader at the Freiburg University Children's
Clinic and support families from all over West and East Europe
who accomany thier children with cancer, not only the children
suffering from various forms of Cancer themselves, but also
the parents and siblings in very difficult moments during therapy
at the University Children's Clinic.

His name is Christian Farthing from Germany
and he will be running the 22th MDS for Facing Africa !
His website is dedicated to his project of participating
and hopefully finishing the MDS in 2007 (March,23rd - April,2nd)
and also raising funds on his path that leads up to the run,
all the way through the desert and past the finishing line
and whereever after.

Terry Kane (701-IRL) decided to run the MDS
after the helpless feeling, he had when he saw pictures of
poverty, starvation and death in
third world countries. He has spent a lot of his life travelling
and
on many occassions he saw the destruction caused by famine,
war and disease.
