Brigid Wefelnberg (D - 461) will be running - for the
second year
the Marathon des Sables. In addition to her normal job,
she is the sports embassader at the Freiburg University
Children's Clinic and support families from all over West
and East Europe who accomany thier children with cancer,
not only the children suffering from various forms of Cancer
themselves, but also the parents and siblings in very difficult
moments during therapy at the University Children's Clinic..
It's the Children's Cancer Foundation of the Freiburg University
Children's Clinic (in German: "Förderverein für krebskranke
Kinder der
Uni Freiburg").
The foundation finances the accomodation in Freiburg and
the entire stay
of effected families whose children are struck with this
horrible
disease, as this promotes the healing to have the family
nearby. Much of
the donations are invested in Cancer research, a big focus
at the
University of Freiburg and its various Hospitals in the
vicinity.
Brigid will be collecting money for the Foundation before
and after the
Marathon des Sables.
