The solitary foodie
For someone who prefers his own company, Sandro finds himself sharing his days
and even relaxation time with people he’s never met before. It doesn’t
seem to be much of a problem.
More accustomed to 20 to 40km races in the mountains, here he is trying out his
first adventure race over several stages. He cares little about the rankings
and is more interested in using such races to contemplate the silence of nature
when there’s noone for miles around.
The thing about Sandro is he loves his food and can’t wait to spend his
last night on the bivouac to empty out his bag and stuff himself silly.
During the race a competitor asked him for salt tablets. He kindly handed him
his home, but in return for a handful of peanuts. A fair swap? Sandro has discovered
wonderful human values here on MDS which are in his opinion increasingly disappearing
from daily life in big cities. The MARATHON DES SABLES will remain a mythic life
experience.
