Celebrating 15 years
together the Saharan way
For their 15th wedding anniversary, Veronika TROXLER
and her husband decided to combine the useful with
the aesthetic. The husband did his first MARATHON
DES SABLES 2 years ago; she was pregnant at the time.
This year the couple are realising their dream together.
Mother of 6 children, Veronika doesn’t have
as much time as she’d like to prepare for the
race. She’s managed however to run around 20
semi-marathons. The MDS is «without a shadow
of a doubt the best of all ».
Life on the bivouac has left a strong impression
on her. “Regular daily life makes you take
comfort for granted. MDS has taught me more about
the importance of sharing and acknowledging the value
of others”.
Veronika is 67th in the general rankings, way ahead
of her husband who’s in 265th place. A rather
nice wedding anniversary souvenir, wouldn’t
you say?
