An excellent pupil
Widy GREGO is the proud record holder of Meilleur
Raideur de la Guadeloupe (« best adventure
racer of Guadeloupe »). What’s more he’s
the only person from the island on this year’s
MARATHON DES SABLES.
He sees it as an avalanche of discovery : wonderful
landscapes, interesting encounters with other competitors
and above all new terrain such as rocky paths or
sandy plaines.
He’s enjoying the experience: a kind of apprenticeship
for his next MDS. “At school I was a good
pupil and I still am » he says.
For a first attempt he’s doing well, in 25th
position overall at the end of this third stage.
His only real worry concerns his food which through
lack of experience he hasn’t managed to master.
He suffers at the end of each stage. That said, he’s
philosophical and impressed by the solidarity between
runners.
Convinced that MDS is a « school of life »,
he’s using it to improve his physical condition
.. it’ll serve him well for all the new sporting
adventures he has in mind.
