Christian GINTER Francois CRESCI back
PASSION TROPHY
26/10/2007
Many runners come back regularly to do the MARATHON DES SABLES, but Christian GINTER (F) and François CRESCI (F) have been back every year since the third edition, that's to say 20 MDS in a row!

That's an awful lot of hours and kms in the desert. Christian is from the Jura and lives and works in Lamoura as a chef. Modest to a tee he's often finished the MDS in the top twenty. He won the team race on the 9th MDS and later won then came second in the DESERT CUP in Jordan. Long distance running is his forte: his short but economical stride acting like a perfect metronome. His pace is so distinctive the regulars can pick him out miles away: "Oh look, there goes Christian GINTER ». François lives in Grenoble and works at a printers. Like Christian, he's been among the winners. Always eager to grab a few places, he still wants to win the veteran 3 category, employing the same determination he showed 20 years back. Of course he's vowed to stop once that's done, but there's every reason to believe he'll be here for a few years yet.
As for Christian, MDS is part of his life. At the age of 53, he hopes to participate in a few more editions, sharing the adventure with his son Anthony who's shone out on MDS the last 2 years.
During the awards ceremony at Ouarzazate in April, Patrick BAUER was delightedeto award the "Passion Trophy" to these two men who've been such a part of MDS.
