Yes to running, YES to partying

Alain (73, FRA), Philippe Bertrand (74, FRA) and Alain (75, FRA), better known as Team Alpha 16, are bons viveurs. A librarian, a wine grower and a technical expert, they have something in common : a passion for trails and footraces. Nearing 50 and 60, they wanted a challenge. Lose weight? No, run the 25th Sultan Marathon des Sables. Mind you, after a week’s race, you can’t have one without the other. With a total of 7 to 13 blisters each, they find their motivation in the emails sent daily by their friends and family and sometimes by total strangers – like the students of Villeurbanne’s secondary school Louis Armand who just loved the name of the team. Our three likely lads enjoy the race, but they also enjoy a good party, and they can’t wait to be back in Ouarzazate for a nice cold beer.
