Allez au bout pour le SMDS
38 years old Guillaume Charbonneau (76-FR) runs a business near Dijon in Burgundy. He had his first taste of the MDS in 2009. When he got home, he wished to share his experience with primary school pupils in his area. He would come with his ruck-sack on, show the children the ideal equipment for such a race, and tell them about the desert. He also has a blog, through which forthcoming competitors from all around France contacted him for advice. This year, he’s come to the Sultan MDS with a very precise objective: to raise funds for Solidarité Marathon des Sables, via Solid’Run, a charity he set up some years ago. That’s going to push him to make it to the finish line, even if on the morning of the second stage, his spirits are rather low: “I find it hard to breathe and my legs are really heavy, I’m tempted to give up. But considering the causes in support of which I’m running, I feel I should stop moaning. So hopefully I’ll get to Merzouga.”
