Jennifer Salter (936-GBR): an impressive increase in power
An organiser of sport events (she works with Rory Coleman [805-GBR]), Jennifer Salter is a real lioness. Once again she proved her fighting spirit to all those who, bad-faithed or sceptical, thought her 2009 impressive performance was just a stroke of luck.
For her first MDS participation last year, she came 82th in the general ranking and 6th in the women’s ranking. This year, the 35 years old Welsh runner is also doing extremely well: at the end of the 5th stage, she’s 3rd in the women’s race and should remain there, unless some major hiccup occurs, after Jolanda Linschooten (90-NDL) and Monica Aguilera (1020-SP).
On the eve of the penultimate stage, she was asked about her objective : “It would be great to be able to stay in the 3rd place. Two stages away from the end, I think I can do it.”
No matter what happens, Jennifer, who has already run 6 international marathons (London, Cardiff, Berlin, New York…) and who will represent the UK at the triathlon European championship, will have convinced everyone of one thing: she is definitely a go-getter!
